Who is this exam for?

LanguageCert is a highly popular, modern English qualification accepted globally by universities and for UK Visas (SELT). It is particularly famous for allowing candidates to take a fully proctored exam online from home, 24/7.

Try a Sample Task

In Part 2, you have to roleplay everyday situations with the examiner. The examiner will read a prompt, and you must respond instantly.

Part 2: Situational Roleplay

Examiner reads:
"We are flatmates. I have invited some friends over for a loud party tonight, but you have a very important exam tomorrow morning. You start."

You must respond immediately:
"Hey, I saw you buying a lot of drinks earlier. Are you having people over tonight? Because I really need to study for my exam tomorrow..."

You will do 2 or 3 of these short roleplays. The goal is to show you can handle spontaneous, real-life interactions.

Speaking Test Structure Masterclass

The following structure represents the B2 Communicator and C1 Expert levels, which take about 13-15 minutes. You speak 1-on-1 with the interlocutor (no partner).

Part 1: Personal Information

3 minutes

The examiner will ask you to spell your family name. Then, they will ask you 4 or 5 questions about different topics like your family, your studies, your hometown, or your free time.

Pro Tip: When spelling your name, make sure you know the difference between vowels (A, E, I) in English! This is a very common place where candidates lose easy points right at the start.

Part 2: Situational Roleplay

3 minutes

You and the examiner will perform 2 to 3 short roleplays based on real-life situations (e.g., complaining at a restaurant, asking a teacher for help, planning a trip with a friend).

The examiner will tell you who starts. You must adopt the appropriate tone (formal for a teacher, informal for a friend).

Pro Tip: Act the part! If you are complaining about bad food, sound slightly annoyed but polite. If you are planning a party with a friend, sound enthusiastic.

Part 3: Exchanging Information

4 minutes

You and the examiner will look at a shared task. You both have similar information, but some details are different or missing. You must ask the examiner questions to find out the missing information, and then agree on a decision together.

Pro Tip: You must lead the conversation. Use phrases like "Could you tell me what you have for the afternoon schedule?" and "Why don't we choose option B?"

Part 4: Topic Discussion (Long Turn)

5 minutes

The examiner will give you a topic (e.g., "The impact of tourism"). You have 30 seconds to prepare, and then you must speak uninterrupted for 2 minutes.

After your speech, the examiner will ask you follow-up questions about the topic for another 2 minutes.
